In December, 2017, I underwent emergency surgery to have a 13″ x 13″ X 8″ benign ovarian tumor removed. Because I was over medicated with anesthesia, my bowels became paralyzed, which created a backed-up sewer system that caused me to continually throw up liter after liter of bile. Having lost so many fluids, I quickly lost my electrolytes, in particular potassium, which the doctors were concerned would cause a heart attack.
To restore normal levels, the hospital staff administered a synthetic form of potassium via an I.V. drip. In spite of a week of around the clock drip, drip, drip that caused me to violently throw up the entire time, my potassium levels were not improving and my health declined to the point where I could barely swallow or hold water down. And because I could not eat, there was nothing to hold the potassium in my body even if I did absorb it. Because there was no improvement in my potassium levels, they changed the IV potassium to oral potassium for another 3 days, during which time, I still could not eat and continued to throw up in spite of an empty stomach. At this point, my heart was fluttering like crazy, which was really scaring me.
After ten days of getting nowhere, I refused to continue taking their form of potassium and insisted on taking a natural, ionic potassium. My surgeon was aware that the synthetic form was not being assimilated by my body, so he told me to go ahead and try the natural potassium. However, the hospitalist and other doctors did not agree with that decision and were very concerned. Choosing not to honor either me or my surgeons decision, they instead decided to question my mental capacity to make such a decision. Without my surgeons awareness, they called in a psychiatrist to evaluate my mental state. I informed the psychiatrist that I, indeed, was capable of making my own decisions and politely asked him to leave. I did inform him that I would not hold the hospital responsible if the natural potassium did not work. Surprisingly, he entered into my report that I was, indeed, capable of making my own decisions.
In the meantime, the hospitalist proceeded to check with admitting to see if I had filed a Living Will. Much to her surprise, she found a Power of Attorney affidavit instead that I had submitted when I was admitted into the hospital. It gave my POA and all four backup POA’a permission to make my health care decisions in the event I was unable to make them on my own. That made it impossible for the hospital staff to force feed me the synthetic potassium since they would have to abide by my POA’s decision. So even if the psychiatrist found me incompetent, the hospital doctors knew they would not get past my POA so they dropped the pursuit and decided to work with me, even if it was reluctantly. They had to get me released from the hospital somehow. (Drawing up a POA affidavit was a last minute thing I did before going into the hospital and I believe it saved my life. Had they continued with the synthetic version of potassium, my new doctor told me he was sure it would have killed me.)
Because of some good friends coming to my aide, they brought me a natural form of ionic potassium from the health food store and within two hours the blood draw showed my potassium levels went from 2.7 to 3.4, something that 10 days of being on IV and oral synthetic potassium was unable to achieve. However, since my body was so depleted of food, it did take another 4 days to maintain levels so I could be released from the hospital. After returning home and taking nothing but Mother Earth’s potassium, the levels jumped again to an even healthier level of 3.7.
As a side note: a reading of 3.0 was required to release me from the hospital. What should have been a 4 day stay turned out to be a 14-day stay because the hospital insisted on following medical protocol that did not include a natural form of potassium. They admitted the synthetic potassium was not doing the job but because they knew nothing about ionic potassium or how to monitor it, they were determined to continue force feeding me the synthetic potassium, which would have eventually resulted in a heart attack and probable death. I was hanging on by only a thread at that point. Yes, other people have taken synthetic potassium successfully but my body clearly rejected it.
What people need to understand is that synthetic anything is perceived as a poison by the human body that must be gotten rid of, which is why I kept throwing up. The synthetic version is many, many times stronger than a natural form but is meaningless if the body cannot absorb it. The hope of the administrator is that the body will accept a small amount to achieve at least a 3.0 level so the patient may be released on his or her own cognizance. When given in a natural ionic form, only a small amount needs to be ingested since the body accepts it all. There is no rejection syndrome to have to deal with. When potassium levels are low, my heart flutters, my muscles ache, and I get shooting pains. Soon as I take Mother Earth’s potassium, everything normalizes within minutes. Now I just take it as a matter of course every day, since I realize that I just run naturally low on potassium and it is like Vitamin C, you have to replenish it daily in some manner since the body does not retain it.

For 15 years I have had severe heart racing, especially during the middle of the night and upon waking up in the morning.
After reading Dr. Ott’s book I learned I was deficient of minerals. I took Mother Earth Potassium – along with a variety of other Mother Earth Minerals.
And in one year the heart racing subsided! I felt so good that I forgot to take the Potassium and other minerals for about 3 weeks and my symptoms of heart racing started to come back.
So I realized that I need to continue to take the Mother Earth Potassium along with the other Mother Earth Minerals on a daily basis. Dr. Ott’s book helped me to understand the importance of minerals, that the best way to consume minerals is “one at a time” under the tongue.
Mother Earth Minerals gave me my health back!!
