Myth: Supplements Should Give Immediate Results

This is a misconception we run into a lot. People think when they start using a new supplement and don’t notice remarkable results in a couple of days, it must not work at all.

I have even been guilty of it. I think a lot of it stems from instant gratification, when one can pop a pain pill and in less than 30 minutes the pain is gone. It’s easy to think ‘Why don’t minerals and other supplements work that quickly?’

It is the wrong way to look at it. When it gets down to it, it’s like comparing apples to a meteor. Disease and deficiencies takes time to manifest in the body, they certainly don’t happen over night. So why do we expect that when we give the body the proper nutrition it needs, that allow it to heal and restore itself, that it should happen immediately? Reversing months, if not years of damage isn’t going to be an overnight thing, and it’s quite unfair and unrealistic to expect that.

That being said, we often do hear feedback of improved energy, sleep, mental concentration, and improved conditions within days or weeks of beginning mineral supplementation. Some even feel worse, as they experience what is often referred to as a ‘healing crisis’ as their bodies detox. Others didn’t notice any changes so they quit using the minerals, only to realize that the minerals were actually doing them good. There just is no general rule on time frames. Each person is just too different.

Consistency and patience is the golden rule when it comes to supplementation. Changes and improvements in health may come swiftly, or they might come silently and subtly. Either way it’s a good idea to give the supplement a fair chance. Our bodies blood supply is completely refreshed/remade approximately every three months.  It’s a good idea to give a supplement three months before stopping, giving it an opportunity to be utilized and possibly even fortify the new blood supply.

I wish supplementation was as quick and easy as taking a pain pill, but having lasting and naturally obtained health is worth it in the long run. The name of the game is consistency and patience.
